QuoteWerks Real-Time Module Overview
Many companies in the IT industry purchase products from industry distributors such as Ingram
Micro, D&H, SYNNEX, Tech Data, etc. It is very important to these companies to have access to real-time
pricing and availability information so that they have all the tools they need to get product to their customer
fast and as low priced as possible.
Having access to real-time pricing gives the company the ability to deliver
last minute price savings to their customer. Having access to real-time availability gives the company the ability
to know if the product will ship today, or if it will be backordered. Since a backordered product cannot be shipped
to a customer, knowing that a product is backordered before placing an order will give you the tools you need to make a
good purchasing decision.

A real-time data module using QuoteWerks DataOnDemandTM technology is available that delivers
real-time pricing and availability to QuoteWerks for the following vendors:

QuoteWerks Real-Time Module Integration Touch-Points
The real-time pricing and availability features are integrated into many areas of
QuoteWerks such as:
The QuoteWerks Product Lookup window
From the QuoteWerks Product Lookup window, you can select a product, right-click, and select the Real-time Pricing and Availability menu item. This will display the real-time data window. If you click on the Accept button, the Cost, List and Availability numbers in the database will be updated with this real-time data.
The QuoteWerks Refresh with Best Pricing feature
When you select the QuoteWerks Tools menu | Refresh with Best Pricing option, you will be asked if you want to refresh the pricing using the offline database, or the real-time data.
The QuoteWerks Vendor Price Comparison Worksheet
From the QuoteWerks Vendor Price Comparison Worksheet, you can click on the ellipsis button to the right of the Vendor price. This will display the real-time data window. If you click on the Accept button, the Cost of the item listed in the comparison worksheet will be updated.
On this worksheet, you can easily compare prices between vendors.
You can use the toolbar buttons to automatically Source item(s) from the Vendor that best matches your needs. There are 3 different options:
- Source item(s) from best cost vendor – this option simply finds the vendor with the lowest cost even if the vendor does not have any stock of the item.
- Source item(s) from best cost vendor with Stock - this option sources the product from the lowest cost vendor that actually has the item in stock.
- Source item(s) from best cost vendor with Stock in Preferred Warehouse - this option sources the product from the lowest cost vendor that actually has the item in stock at your preferred warehouse.
Product Availability
Once you have retrieved real-time pricing & availability, as you hover the mouse over the price cell, the availability will be displayed.
QuoteWerksLowest Price indicator
You may notice that one of the vendor’s price cells is green, and the rest are black. QuoteWerks
will determine which vendor’s price is the lowest, and will change the color of the price to green
making it easier for you to identify the lowest price.
The QuoteWerks Add Item Assistant:
From the QuoteWerks Add Item Assistant, you can click on the lightning bolt button. This will
display the real-time data window. If you click on the [Accept] button, the Cost and List numbers
in the Add Item Assistant will be updated with this real-time data.
QuoteWerks Real-Time Module licensing
The QuoteWerks Real-Time Module licensing and pricing is based on the "reserved concurrency" model.
Whenever a user on the network uses the real-time data module, a license is reserved for that user
and is not released until the user exits QuoteWerks. The number of real-time licenses does not need
to match the total number of QuoteWerks licenses. So, for example, in a 2-user installation of
QuoteWerks with a single Real-time license, if user 1 logs into QuoteWerks and uses the Real-time
pricing first, user 2 will not be able to use Real-time pricing until user 1 logs out of QuoteWerks.
